How to Become a Successful Yoga Trainer

If you love yoga and are enthusiastic about it and have seen its transformative effect in your own life, it's natural that you'd want to share that with others. And, if you feel comfortable in front of a group and also know the way to connect one on one, teaching this great art could be just perfect. A yoga teacher or instructor is expected to lead a group of students with positive experience, while offering ongoing personalized feedback. If you have in you the zest to teach this art while bringing some creativity in it, then even better. Yoga teachers must know that their responsibility is to build the size of their classes and must take marketing and networking earnestly, if they want to develop a client base for private sessions. However, more than the marketing skills or increasing classroom size, a yoga teacher needs a dedicated practice of yoga. An instructor, your role is more than just leading individuals through postures. You'll be role model to your several students in respect of the benefits of a yoga practice. This is the reason majority of the yoga teacher training programs require at least 2 years of committed yoga practice. Yoga teachers need to model a mindful presence, a welcoming attitude and a caring approach to working with physical limits as well as challenges.

Certification Required for Becoming Yoga Instructor

There aren't any universal agencies set up to offer examinations and certifications for yoga instructors as there are for personal trainers and fitness instructors. Instead, the standard baseline training for a yoga instructor is a 200 hour program, which means you spend 200 hours in a hands on learning environment. Programs such as this might offer their own certification. Some 200 hour programs possess an intensive month long retreat experience, others space the training over two years in a series of weekend workshops or many long retreats. Although, one can obtain a specialty fitness yoga certificate or online certification in less than 200 hours or through home learning, it won't be recognized by Yoga Alliance, which is the national registry of yoga instructors. Also, yoga studios probably don't hire an instructor who hasn't completed a 200 hour training.

If you intend to go beyond basic training, then 500 hour programs will further enhance your teaching skills and develop your abilities to work with special people. A period of 1 to 2 years is typically required for these programs to get completed. Like 200 hours trainings, these programs typically cost a high amount. Some styles of yoga also have multiple levels of certifications, for instance, junior instructor, senior instructor and master teacher.

Making a Career

Several fitness facilities and community centers hire newly certified yoga teachers, however, you must get yourself on the group fitness schedule. Also, there are most yoga studios who look for experienced teachers with an established following. If you want to teach at a reputed yoga studio, make yourself a known presence there. Visit the studio regularly and get to know the front desk staff and studio managers. Offer to assist the teachers whose styles are closest to yours. This is where your yoga teacher training India will come handy. This is the way you can create a path of becoming a successful yoga instructor and make a successful living out of it.
